"Three Amigos",
our signature mystery, was designed as a "singles"
mixer for 16-30 characters. Although for a large group,
it could be customized for as few as 8-10 players. This
mystery has a definite victim and killer. Murder occurs
prior to participant arrival.
Heirs to the multi-million dollar company
"Three Amigos" are gathered together at a
memorial service in honor of the last departed owner
to determine their eligibility to inherit. Greedy relatives,
interested parties, peace keepers and just plain vultures
abound. Each attendee is assigned a character and given
background information. What to wear? Funeral attire
of course!
Setting: Three eccentric
business men, Simon Pieman, Sir Oliver B. Oyle, and
Horatio T. Bohne, equal owners of the Three Amigos company
agreed to each have only one child thinking these offspring
when grown would run the company in partnership just
as they had during their lifetime and pass on the legacy
to take care of generation after generation of their
families. But this dream was short-lived. To the shock
of the three businessmen, they learned their greedy,
lazy children planned to liquidate the company once
it became theirs and live in non-working luxury for
the remainder of their lives without a care for the
future generations. As safeguard against that happening,
the three men transferred their wealth into the Three
Amigos Inheritance Trust ( “T&A Trust”)
to be equally distributed amongst heirs upon the death
of the last partner. Upon learning this, the children
plotted to multiply thinking the money would be distributed
to the grandchildren and therefore, inherit the company
by default through their children. Not so! The business
men set up the T&A Trust to distribute to the third
generation or greater and built in various clauses to
carefully control heir qualification to keep the company
assets from falling into the hands of their greedy,
lazy children and any future heirs that might compromise
or under appreciate the Three Amigos empire.
With the recent natural(?) death of
the last businessman, Horatio T. Bohne, the potential
heirs, along with interested parties, are gathered together
for a memorial service in tribute to the dead who are
making them rich, for reading of the T&A Trust,
and inheritance disbursement – $6 million dollars
to be split equally amongst “qualifying”
heirs. Out of 18 potential heirs, how many will qualify?
And which interested parties will collect the Justice
Fee for exposing unfit heirs? Was Horatio T. Bohne’s
demise untimely? Will it be found that the heirs were
in collusion and invoke the Foul Play clause skipping
heir distribution for another three generations and
granting 25% of $6 million to the Upstanding Citizen
who exposed them…. ???
